TWO notorious drug trafficking personalities in Metro Manila yielded more than a kilo of shabu worth P7.140 million during a buy-bust yesterday morning in Caloocan City, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chair Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo reported.

Arrested during the sting at the corner of No. 6127 Zapote Road and Ilang-Ilang Street in Barangay 177, Caloocan City, were Raquel Macmod, 33, of La Forteza Street in Barangay 175, Camarin, Caloocan City, and Abdulbasit Ali, 34, of Jose P. Rizal St. in Upper Bicutan, Taguig City.

The two were arrested at around 12:55 a.m. while conspiring to sell prohibited drugs to an undercover officer of the PDEA National Capital Region. The PDEA agents were assisted by the Caloocan City Police Sub-Station 8 in the conduct of the anti-narcotics operation.

Recovered from the duo were 10 knot-tied plastic bags containing 1,000 grams of shabu, five heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 50 grams of the same drug, the buy-bust money topped by a marked bill, assorted identification cards, and an analog phone they used in making contact with the poseur.

A white Toyota Vios used by the suspects to transport the drugs was impounded by the PDEA.

The suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for sale and possession of prohibited drugs.
