2 nabbed for guns, shabu in Batangas

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas — Two men were nabbed in separate police operations during the implementation of search warrants in Lian and Ibaan towns in Batangas, provincial police PIO chief Police Lieutenant Pauline P. Fernando said.

A report by Batangas Provincial Police Office (BPPO) Director P/Col. Pedro D. Soliba to the Police Regional Office CALABARZON (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) Regional Director P/ Brig. Gen. Jose Melcio C. Nartatez, Jr. identified one of the suspects as a 48-year-old farmer of Sitio Bungahan, Bgy. Balibago, Lian, Batangas.

Police seized from the suspect a caliber .45 Ithaca Unico with serial number 1846033, a magazine, and ammunition for the same caliber.

Batangas City Police Station chief P/Lt. Col. Dwight F. Fonte, Jr. and his men arrested a 47-year-old delivery boy and a resident of Bgy. Soro-Soro Ibaba, Batangas City.

Fonte said they recovered a caliber .38 handgun and some bullets, a package of suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia.

The apprehended suspect could not produce any document regarding gun ownership.

The two are in the custody of the respective police stations while the corresponding case against them is being prepared.

“We have followed the existing laws. Let’s eliminate the illegal ones because they will only cause harm. The public can count on continued exploitation,” P/Col Soliba said.
