2 nabbed for gun trafficking in QC, Manila entrapment ops
TWO alleged illegal gun and drug dealers in Metro Manila were arrested in separate entrapment operation in Quezon City and Manila conducted by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group local field offices, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Eliseo DC Cruz on Sunday said.
One of the suspects identified as Anjo Rosales was arrested during the sting conducted in his house om 439 Azucena Street in Barangay Central in Diliman, Quezon City past 12 a.m. last Wednesday by members of the Q.C. District Field Unit of the CIDG National Capital Region Field Unit under Colonel Randy Glenn G. Silvio, the official said.
According to Cruz, the jobless suspect yielded an unlicensed caliber .45 Smith & Wesson revolver with two live ammunition, the buy-bust money topped by a marked P500 bill, two plastic sachets containing some P5,000 worth of suspected shabu and several drug sniffing paraphernalia including crumpled aluminum foils, a weighing scale and a lighter during the sting.
Members of the CIDG Q.C. DFU led by Lieutenant Col. Manolo Salvatierra conducted the successful sting.
The 2nd suspect identified as Jervin Escamilla was arrested in a sting along Felix Street in Bgy. 123, Zone 9, Moriones, Tondo by members of the CIDG Manila DFU headed by Lt. Col. Wilfredo Fabros past 1 a.m. Thursday.
The suspect was placed under arrest after he sold an unlicensed cal. .22 revolver to a poseur. Apart from the firearm, the suspect also yielded the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill.
Both suspects have been monitored to be involved in the illegal sale of drugs and loose firearms in Q.C. and Manila prior to their arrest. Escamilla is also being investigated for their reported involvement in theft and robbery-holdup activities in Tondo as well as the stabbing of one Reynaldo Rivera in Moriones, Tondo last June 5, said Col. Silvio.
Both suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013. A separate case for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 will also be filed against Rosales.
