2 most wanted rape suspects in Bicol jailed

TWO most wanted rape suspects in Bicol were hauled to jail by the local police in separate operations last Monday, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo said.

One of the two identified as Rey Tirmana alias ‘Dadeng,’ a resident of Barangay San Pablo, Calabanga, Camarines Sur was arrested in his hiding place in La Loma, Quezon City on the strength of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Pedro Redoña of the Calabanga Regional Trial Court Branch 63 on November 20, 2018.

Estomo said the suspect who has been tagged as the no. 2 most wanted person in Calabanga was tracked down by a team of officers from the PRO5 Regional Mobile Force Battalion following three years in hiding.

He added that the suspect is wanted for raping a young neighbor. He fled to Manila after a criminal case as filed against him and was believed to have hidden in the house of his relatives in Barangay Manresa.

The 2nd identified as a retired Army soldier Emelito del Mundo was arrested on the basis of a warrant of arrest for 19 counts of acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law and statutory rape issued by Judge Raquel Aspiras-Sanchez of the Tagaytay City RTC Branch 3 last November 5.

Estomo said the suspect was arrested in Sitio Lomlom, Bgy. Saban in Oas, Albay by members of the Oas Municipal Police Station and the Alfonso, Cavite MPS in Sitio Taywanak in Bgy. Ilaya in Alfonso municipality.

The Bicol police director said a record check showed the suspect went into hiding after allegedly raping a young student in Alfonso.

The two suspects are now under the custody of the Bicol police pending the issuance of official jail commitment order on them by the court, said Estomo.
