POLICE arrested two members of a street gang allegedly responsible for a pre-dawn riot with a rival gang while making a homemade Molotov bomb, Monday before dawn in Malabon City.

Malabon Police Chief P/Col. Albert Barot said Mark Jordan Blas, 18, of Gulayan St. Bgy. Concepcion and John Mark Diaz, 18, of Sitio 6 Bgy. Catmon were collared by joint forces of Malabon Police Sub-Station and barangay watchmen at the corner of Durian and McArthur Highway, Bgy. Potrero while others eluded arrest after they scampered in different directions upon sensing the presence of authorities.

An investigation conducted by P/SSgt. Mardelio Osting showed that at around 2:00 a.m., roving watchmen of Bgy. Potrero received information regarding a group of young men while preparing for a riot against their rival gang along Durian Street. Bgy. Potrero.

Barangay watchmen sought the assistance of Police Sub-Station 1 personnel before proceeding to the area where they chanced upon a group of young men while making homemade Molotov cocktail bombs that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Police recovered a bottle containing petroleum products used in making Molotov cocktails in the area.

The arrested suspects, along with recovered items, were presented for inquest proceedings before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office on charges of violation of R.A.9516 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
