TWO labor federations from different industries nationwide expressed full support to the tandem of former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Davao Mayor Sara Duterte.

In a statement, All Workers Alliance Trade Unions (AWATU) and the Confederation of Labor and Allied Social Services (CLASS) said they are throwing support to the UniTeam of BBM and Sara.

The two are affiliated with the country’s biggest labor group the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP).

Both CLASS and AWATU are labor federations with local unionized rank-and-file workers in different enterprises in manufacturing, services and agro-business industries nationwide.

“The AWATU labor federation officials and members are giving our support to presidential and vice presidential candidates Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte in the forthcoming national elections in May this year,” said Tem Dejon, AWATU national president.

“Majority of our members saw in Bongbong and Sara the qualities needed to lead our country out of the pandemic economic and health crises the COVID-19 had brought upon us. We believe they possess the needed leadership track record and strength of character to rally, inspire and unite most of our people out of the current crises,” Dejon added.

CLASS-TUCP president Concepcion “Chit” Dodd said Marcos and Duterte-Carpio have a clear grasp of issues both at the national and local levels.

“The ordinary workers saw in former Senator Marcos and Mayor Sara they understand the dire circumstances of workers and their families and know how to get things done to address them.

These are the primary reasons why both Bongbong and Inday Sara resonate with our union members from all the other candidates,” Dodd said.

CLASS and AWATU union members picked Marcos and Duterte-Carpio from among a list of 10 presidential candidates and nine vice presidential bets who can move the nation forward.
