2 killed, 5 held in Ecija drug stings

CABANATUAN CITY — Two suspected shabu peddlers on Wednesday were killed while five others, including one with an outstanding arrest warrant for theft, were arrested during separate intensified anti-illegal drug operations conducted in Nueva Ecija.

In Talavera, police head Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno said a buy-bust operation turned into a gunfight after suspect Marcelino Avila alias “Bornok,” of Bgy. Homestead 2, Talavera opted to fight off undercover cops after a drug sale in Bgy. Sibul at 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

He said Avila, tagged as a known drug pusher/user included in the town’s watch list, was previously arrested for violation of Republic Act 10591 on Nov. 16, 2015.

The slain suspect yielded shabu placed in three plastic sachets, with an estimated weight of 17.5 grams valued at P119,000.

In General Natividad, killed was Willie Jose, of Bgy. Bunol, Guimba, Nueva Ecija.

Jose was neutralized during a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Talabutab Sur.
