TWO suspected holduppers said to have been operating in at least three cities were arrested by the police after falling off their motorcycle as they were fleeing cops who pursued them when they evaded a checkpoint in Sta. Cruz, Manila on May 12.

PCol. John Guiagui, station commander of the Manila Police District-Station 3, identified the collared suspects as John Carlo San Juan, 21, and Janlloyd Loyola, 18, both members of the ‘Commando Gang’ and residing in Sta. Cruz. Recovered from them were two firearms, a 9mm and a .22 cal.

Guiagui said a checkpoint was being conducted by the operatives of the Blumentritt Police Community Precinct at the corner of Herrera Street and Rizal Avenue at around 11:30 a.m. when they saw the suspects sans helmets aboard a motorcycle.

Instead of stopping when signaled to do so, the suspects sped off but lost control of the motorcycle and fell to the ground.

Pursuing policemen saw that the suspects were carrying guns.

The suspects failed to show documents for the firearms.

Upon verification, Guiagui said the two were found to have been involved in holdup and robbery-snatching incidents in Taguig, Caloocan and Manila.

San Juan also has a drug case.

The suspects are now detained at the MPD-Station 3 cell after undergoing treatment for their wounds.

Charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition will be filed against them before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
