2 holdup, carnapping suspects caught in QC

Operatives of the Fairview Police Station arrested two robbery and carnapping suspects who yielded a firearm in a dragnet operation early this morning in Quezon City.

Police Brigadier General Antonio C. Yarra, District Director of QCPD, identified the suspects as Ramil Olalia, 42, resident of Antipolo St., Sta. Cruz, Manila, and Anthony Faeldon, 28, resident of Pingkian, Bgy. Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.

Lt. Col. Joewie Lucas, the Officer-in-Charge of Fairview Police Station, said that the incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. of October 15, while victim Sammer Odin, 42, was driving his taxi when the suspects who posed themselves as passengers boarded his cab in a gasoline station along Tandang Sora St., Bgy. Culiat, Quezon City and instructed him to convey them to SM Fairview.

Moments later, the suspects declared a holdup at knifepoint.

Odin managed to get out from his cab while the suspects drove the taxi and fled towards Bgy. Greater Fairview, Quezon City.

The victim immediately reported the incident at the Fairview Police Station.

A follow up operation was conducted that resulted in the arrest of the suspects along Regalado Ave. corner Republic Ave. in Quezon City.

A replica of a caliber .45 pistol and an improvised icepick approximately six inches long were confiscated from the suspects.

The cab of the victim was also recovered.

Cases for violations of Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery Hold-Up), Republic Act 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Law) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) will be filed against the arrested suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
