2 held for gun ban violation in Cavite

IMUS CITY, Cavite — Two persons were arrested by Trece Martires City and Tagaytay City Police in relation to Omnibus Election Code and Republic Act 10591 or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

The suspect Leo Aranez y Ramos, 33, with a live-in partner, driver, and residing of Purok 7, Brgy Cabezas, Trece Martires City was apprehended by members of Trece Martires PNP Outpost 2 for illegal discharge of firearms around 11:00 p.m.

Aranez was caught outside their residence and recovered from his possession was one unit of Cal. 45 M1911 A1 -FS with Serial No. RIA1872188, with one magazine without ammunition. The said suspect could not present any legal document pertaining to firearms.

While one security guard was caught in possession of 3 pieces of ammunition during a COMELEC checkpoint in Tagaytay Amadeo Road Brgy. Kaybagal North, Tagaytay City, Cavite.

Mark Joseph Marcia y Bawar, 26, single, a security guard and resident of no. 215 Purok 5 Brgy. May Mangga Amadeo Cavite was held for violation of RA 10591 (illegal Possession of Ammunition) in relation to the COMELEC gun ban around 12:30 AM, January 16, 2022 as he was spotted not wearing a helmet while driving a motorcycle.

Arresting officers of Tagaytay City Police conducting a COMELEC checkpoint said they spotted the suspect driving his motorcycle without wearing a helmet and tested under influence of alcohol and when the apprehending officer was asking for the driver’s license of the suspect they spotted the said ammunitions inside the sling bag of the suspect.
