POLICE Regional Office 11 (PRO11) director, Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. on Sunday announced the voluntary surrender of two New People’s Army members in Davao Occidental who also turned over several explosives to the local police.

The official said the two who were identified only as ‘Ka Louie’ and ‘Ka Ronnel,’ both members of the NPA South Platoon Tala, turned over one 60mm mortar and three rifle grenades to officials of the Davao Occidental Police Provincial Office when they yielded last Friday.

Brig. Gen. Silo added the two surrendered following talks with officials of the Davao Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company led by Lieutenant Colonel Exzur Relatado and the Jose Abad Santos Municipal Police Station headed by Captain Romarvin Villanueva.

The two also surrendered one fragmentation grenade and a handheld radio with a solar charger.

Brig. Gen. Silo said officials of the Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay led by Lt. Randy Guerra and the Provincial Intelligence Unit under Major Glenn Bantillo were also key in the surrender of the two who said they yielded due to the pressure of a continuing focused military operation in Sarangani being conducted by the Army’s 73rd Infantry Battalion.

The two were placed under the custody of the 2nd Davao Provincial Mobile Force Company for custodial debriefing and proper documentation they need to avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government for rebel returnees.
