2 gun traffickers fall, yield high-powered firearms
AGENTS of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Special Operations Group on Saturday arrested two known gun traffickers in Metro Manila following an entrapment operation in Muntinlupa City which resulted in the seizure of a cache of high-powered weapons and ammunition, NCRPO director, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin said.
“We have caught two individuals involved in the illegal firearms trade after they sold weapons to one of our undercover officers,” the official said.
The two were arrested during a sting in Barangay Poblacion in Muntinlupa City around 3:50 p.m. Saturday. Two other suspects are still being hunted as of press time.
Recovered from the suspects were four caliber 5.56 Bushmaster automatic rifles, a cal. 5.56 DPMS Panther Arm rifle, an M-6 upper and lower receiver, a converted cal. .22 air gun, assorted gun parts and several rounds of live ammunition as well as the P300,000 worth of buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill, said Brig. Gen. Aberin.
The inventory of the recovered pieces of evidence was conducted in the presence of local barangay officials, he added.
The NCRPO chief commended the RSOG operatives involved in the successful operation.
