GAPAN CITY – The Provincial Task Force on Ending the Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) in Nueva Ecija scored another headway in the government’s anti-insurgency drive following the surrender of two former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels to the authorities in this city, Monday.

In his report to Police Regional Office 3 Director Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay, acting Nueva Ecija Police Director Col. Jess B. Mendez said the two former insurgents who gave themselves up were tagged as ex-members of the NPA’s Arcadio Peralta Command.

One of the former rebels identified as Ka Jimmy/Roldan/Art/Bert/Boyong, was with the SYP Provincial Command-Nueva Ecija, Section Party Committee-Samal, Bataan Security Officer KRGL/VIL, Segunda NE/Liaison KRGL, and Medic KRGL from 1982 until 1998.

The other surrenderee, identified as Ka Noel/Ben/Bobot/Ado, was formerly designated as S4 Pangalawang Iskwad Lider from 1984-1988, and as Edukador/Political Guide from 1989-1993.

The said personalities are now under the custody of the 303rd MC for proper documentation.

Mendez said the two rebel’s surrender was a joint special intelligence operation undertaken by members of the Intelligence Operatives of 303rd MC, the PIU-NEPPO, Palayan City Police, Gapan City Police, the 1st and 2nd PMFC NEPPO, 84th IB, 91st IB, and 703rd Brigade.

Meanwhile, Col. Mendez, who assumed as new provincial director on January 9, paid a courtesy visit to Col. Joseph Norwin D. Pasamonte, commander of the Army’s 703rd Infantry Brigade at his office in Bgy. Calaanan, Bongabon on Tuesday.

Topics discussed included security measures and other safety protocols in the deployment of personnel in the upcoming synchronized national and local elections on May 9, 2022.
