GAPAN CITY – Two drunk motorcycle-riding men evaded an anti-criminality checkpoint after verbally-assaulting the operatives, were caught in possession of illegal drugs, two pistols and a hand grenade after a brief chase here on Tuesday night.

In his report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay, Col. Jess B. Mendez, provincial police head identified the arrested suspects as John Paul Nierval, 23, and Arnold Rebamba, 25, alias Nono, both civilian security, and natives of Bgy. Kapalangan, this city and of Bgy. Poblacion, San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.

City police chief Lt. Col. Alexie A. Desamito said the two suspects, who were riding a red Honda TMX 125 motorcycle, were initially flagged down at a Comelec checkpoint along Bgy. San Vicente at 10:20 p.m. for not wearing helmets.

The duo sped away, triggering a brief chase until they were cornered.

When asked to present their identification and the motorcycle’s registration documents, the suspects, who were allegedly reeking of alcohol, became rowdy and even pushed the lawmen away while berating them.

The lawmen arrested the duo, who were also caught in possession of two pistols, hand grenade and shabu.
