THE Northern Police District (NPD) scored another victory in its fight against illegal drugs following the arrest of two drug pushers and confiscation of more than P1 million worth of shabu and hand grenade in a buy-bust operation Tuesday before dawn in Navotas City.

NPD Director P/BGen. Ulysses Cruz identified the arrested suspects as Mark Joseph Nicandro, 34, of Bgy. Daanghari and Jomar Jayona, 24, of Bgy. San Roque.

The two were both included in the police and barangay drug watch list.

Navotas Police Chief P/Col. Dexter Ollaging said the suspects were arrested by elements of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by P/Lt. Luis Rufo at around 1:25 a.m. along Ignacio St., Bgy. Daanghari, after they handed a plastic sachet of shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P300 marked money.

Police recovered from the two a total of 160 grams of shabu with a standard drug price of P1,088,000 and the marked money used in the buy-bust operation, while a hand grenade was also found inside the house of Nicandro in Ignacio St., prompting Lt. Rufo to seek the assistance of Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD).

Cruz lauded the Navotas City Police for a job well done while the suspects were presented for inquest proceedings before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office on charges of selling and possession of illegal drugs under R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and an additional case for violation of R.A. 9516 or Unlawful Possession of Explosive will be filed against Nicandro.
