MORE than two kilos of shabu worth P15 million were seized by members of the Navotas Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) and arrested two suspected drug traffickers in a buy-bust early yesterday morning.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Mario Cortes said the buy-bust on Bgy. North Bay Boulevard North (NBBN) at around 6:16 a.m. led to the arrest of Chinese national Rong Shi, alias “William,” 40, and Rose Martinez, 28, both residents of Subic, Zambales.

Recovered from the suspects were four large zip-lock bags containing white crystalline substances believed to be shabu, a thermal insulated tote bag, a digital weighing scale, two heat-sealed sachets of shabu, a black Honda Jazz vehicle, and marked money used in the operation.

Cortes said the operation stemmed from information provided by a confidential informant and upon validation they immediately conducted the buy-bust.

PSSg Flosine-Mar Nebre acted as poseur-buyer and facilitated the transaction, leading to the suspects selling shabu worth ₱120,000.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco expressed his gratitude to Navoteños for their vigilance and active cooperation in combating illegal drugs.

“Ang tagumpay na ito ay dahil sa suporta at malasakit ng bawat isa. Patuloy po nating bantayan ang ating komunidad at mag-report sa mga kahina-hinalang aktibidad. Sama-sama nating labanan ang droga,” Tiangco said.

The suspects were charged with violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
