AN active cop and an AWOL policeman involved in illegal drug trafficking were arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in a buy-bust Wednesday in Muntinlupa City.
NCRPO Director Brigadier General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said Patrolman Rey Baldonasa, 25, of the NCRPO Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, and Carlos Navarro, 31, a member of the Caloocan City Police Station who has gone on AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave) status were arrested in a buy-bust conducted by the Muntinlupa City Police Station on Purok 10, Amparo Street in Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa City.
The official hailed the operation which he described as a testament to his commitment to cleanse the NCRPO of misfits and scalawags.
Confiscated from the suspects were their Philippine National Police-issued Canik 9mm semi-automatic pistol with loaded magazines, an estimated 10 grams of suspected shabu valued at P68,000, and the buy-bust money topped by a marked bill. The two were also stripped of their identification cards and badges.
The suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and violation of the gun ban under the Omnibus Election Code.
Brig. Gen. Nartatez reiterated that he will never tolerate any nefarious activities involving NCRPO personnel under his watch.
“Kung titingnan niyo pulis hinuhuli ng kapwa pulis kailangan lang natin dito ituloy-tuloy at mabilis yung phasing natin. Di tayo magsasawa, sisiguraduhin po natin yan through the process of course susundin natin lamang ang tamang proseso at ang ebidensiya ay nandiyan,” he said.
