TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – Two separate armed encounters here on Friday have resulted in the neutralization of two suspected drug dealers and the recovery of more than P85,000 worth of shabu, police reported Saturday.

Police head Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno said the twin anti-illegal operations were pulled off successively by his men in Bgy. Sampaloc and in Bgy. San Miguel na Munti at 11:50 p.m. and at 4 p.m., respectively.

Killed in the first buy-bust operation was Oliver Balagtas, 36, alias Orly, of Bgy. San Miguel na Munti, this town. Probers recovered at the clash site some 11 plastic sachets with shabu weighing 5.30 grams, worth P40,000, and his cal. 9mm pistol. Balagtas was previously nabbed for sale and possession of illegal drugs on April 28, 2016.

Bruno identified the second slain suspect as Honorio Cabodoc, 47, alias Junior, of Bgy. D.S. Garcia, Cabanatuan City. He fought off undercover operatives in Bgy. Sampaloc after consummating a drug deal, resulting in his killing.

Bruno said Cabodoc was neutralized after resisting arrest and becoming hostile during the drug sale of two plastic sachets containing 6.6 grams of shabu worth P45,000. Also recovered from the slain Cabodoc was his cal. 38 revolver.

Bruno said both slain suspects were tagged as drug users/pushers in the police watch list here.
