2 drug ‘peddlers’ nabbed in Batangas drug bust

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas – Two suspected illegal drug pushers were arrested by the police in a drug buy-bust operation in Batangas City, Wednesday morning at dawn.

According to the report of Batangas Police Director Glicerio C. Cansilao to Regional Director PRO Calabarzon (Police Regional Office Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) PBGen. Antonio C. Yarra said the suspects identified as Jay Comia Villanueva Comia alias “Jay”, 34, with a live-in partner, tricycle driver, of Bgy. Poblacion, San Pascual, Batangas and his partner a 23-year-old jobless Jessalyn Lagrana alias “Jessa”, single, of Bgy. Sta. Maria, Bauan.

The two suspects were arrested after a buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of the Office of the Provincial Director Drug Enforcement Unit (OPD-DEU), Provincial Intelligence Unit-Batangas Police Provincial Office (PIU-BPPO), and Batangas City Police Station at 2:20 a.m. on March 30 in Bgy. Balagtas, Batangas City.

The buy-bust operation was coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration Regional Office-4A (PDEA RO-4A).

Police seized from Jay one resealable plastic containing eight plastic sachets of shabu weighing 40 grams valued at P272,000.

Meanwhile, one cellphone, P270 cash, the P100,000 buy-bust money, one genuine P1,000, and 99 pieces of fake P1,000 were confiscated from Jessa.

Police also recovered a matte green Yamaha MIO Gravis motorcycle bearing which the suspects used.

An inventory of the confiscated evidence was conducted in the area where the suspects were arrested in front of Bgy. Councilor Mario Guinhawa and media representative Lito Rendora, and recorded on the operative’s body-worn camera.

The confiscated illegal drugs were turned over to the Batangas Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (BPCLO) and the suspects underwent a drug test.

Charges are currently being prepared for the filing of the violation of Sec. 5, Art. 2 of Republic Act 9165 against the two suspects.
