2 die in Cavite gunfight

IMUS CITY, Cavite – Two men, who have not been identified as of this writing, died after a gunfight with the authorities after they defied the patrolling checkpoint, Monday, February 7, 2022 in Bgy. Malainen Bago, Naic, Cavite.

According to the report submitted by local police chief Lt. Col. Marlo Solera to the office of Cavite Provincial Police Director Colonel Arnold Abad, the encounter took place at 2:50 a.m. – before the incident, the police received a report regarding a robbery incident that took place in Bgy. Malainen Bago and the Intel Naic Police are within the area performing checkpoint and patrolling operations.

As the patrol turned, the group noticed two (2) men riding on a motorbike parked on a dark side of the Sitio Gugo Brgy. Malainen Bago, Naic. Patroling operatives led by officer Mark Angelo Derupe approached the men but were met by a series of gunshots from the suspects.

Police officer Derupe retaliated which resulted in an exchange of gunfire from the police and two suspects.

After a few minutes of fighting, the suspects jumped up and the police recovered from the scene, two short caliber guns and a motorcycle without a license plate. To date, the two suspects have not been identified and authorities are still investigating the incident.
