2 crime group members fall

POLICE arrested two members of criminal group who were allegedly planning to stage their nefarious activities Saturday evening in Pasay City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg identified the arrested suspects as Raymond Andrade, 27. and Yuri Acelar, 32, who were allegedly members of Romil Villamin Criminal Group engaged in robbery and carnapping operating in southern area of Metro Manila.

Macaraeg said Pasay City Police Station Intelligence Section were conducting Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) at around 6 p.m. along Narra Street, Brgy 145, Zone 16 when they received a call from their confidential informant that members of the said criminal group were at the Twin Pioneer St., Brgy. 148 and allegedly planning to stage their villainous activities.

Operatives immediately rushed to the area where they spotted the suspects while talking to each other without wearing face mask.

When the suspects sensed the presence of policemen, they tried to scamper away but were immediately held by lawmen.

During body search, policemen recovered from Andrade’s possession a Colt caliber .38 revolver loaded with three live bullets while Acelar yielded a Smith & Wesson caliber .38 revolver with live ammunition.

The two were presented for inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for violation of R.A.10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and City Ordinance No.6129 for not wearing face mask.

“Our goal is to protect public safety by focusing on preventing violent crimes from occurring, that is why our strategy has been to collect intelligence and act on that information in real time to pre-empt victimizing communities. We are after eliminating criminal gangs especially their leaders, we await more arrest in the days to come” –Macaraeg said.
