2 crime gang members fall in Malabon

TWO alleged criminal group members involved in a series of robberies and illegal drugs were collared by police Saturday before dawn in Malabon City.

Malabon Police Chief P/Col. Amante Daro said the suspects’ arrest stemmed from the police operation conducted by operatives of the Station Intelligence Section (SIS) led by P/Lt. Richel Sinel against the leader of “Salibio Criminal Group,” who has a pending warrant of arrest for robbery and illegal drugs.

The whereabouts of the crime group leader were provided by the Barangay Information Network (BIN), which prompted the police to proceed to C4 Road Barangay Tanong at around 1:50 a.m. to serve the warrant of arrest, but they failed to find the accused.

While searching the vicinity, lawmen chanced upon one of the captured suspects, with a gun tucked on his waist, prompting them to conduct a body search and found in his possession a German-made caliber. 22 with five live bullets and a hand grenade, while the other suspect yielded a bladed weapon.

Daro, in a report to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director P/Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said the operation against wanted personalities involved in criminal activities was in line with S.A.F. E. (“Seen, Appreciated and Felt by the people through Extraordinary actions”) NCRPO program.

Estomo lauded the operatives of Malabon Police SIS for the arrest of the suspected members of the criminal group operating within the CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) area.

Charges for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act and RA 9516, or unlawful possession of explosives will be filed against one of the suspects, while BP (Batas Pambansa) 6 or illegal possession of a deadly weapon will be filed against the other suspect before the Malabon City prosecutor’s office.
