THE Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) is investigating two Chinese nationals arrested for illegal possession of firearms and for allegedly kidnapping a female compatriot in Pasay City, People’s Tonight learned yesterday.

A report from the PNP-AKG headed by Brigadier General Rudolph B. Dimas identified one of the arrested suspects as Yuan Hong Shi. The two yielded two loaded caliber .45 pistols with two magazines containing six live ammunition when they were apprehended along Atang de la Rama Street in Bgy. 76, Zone 10, Pasay City around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday.

An initial investigation showed that members of the PNP-AKG Luzon Field Unit led by Colonel Frederick Obar and the Pasay City Police Station Intelligence Unit were investigating a report that two Asian nationals were spotted armed with handguns in the area.

Around 3:40 in the morning, the officers spotted the suspects on board a black Honda BRV with plate number NAX 4575 and later placed them under questioning when they alighted from the vehicle without face masks in violation of a local ordinance passed to prevent the further transmission of COVID-19 in the city.

When frisked, the suspects yielded the two unlicensed pistols. During investigation, a Chinese woman identified as Zhang Piao Piao also positively identified the two as her captors.

The two are now being investigated at the PNP-AKG headquarters in Camp Crame. They will be initially facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.
