2 alleged illegal STL bet collectors held in Talavera
TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — Two suspected bet collectors for the illegal operation of Small Town Lottery (STL) called “bookies” on Wednesday were arrested in this municipality.
Town police head Lt. Col. Ranny G. Casilla said joint anti-illegal gambling operatives from Talavera and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted the operation in Bgy. Dinarayat at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of a bet supervisor (kabo) and a bet collector (kubrador).
The two arrested suspects, both residents of Bgy. La Torre, also yielded illegal gambling parapharnelia such as bet booklets and cash amounting to P5,470.
“Allegedly bookies itong mga ito, nangungubra sila pero hindi nagreremit ng pataya,” said Casilla.
Meanwhile, Casilla said his men arrested a wanted person who has a pending warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 8293 (Intellectual Property Code) issued by a Cabanatuan City Regional Trial Court. with no bail recommended.
He said the suspect, a resident of Bgy. Esguerra, was nabbed in Bgy. Sampaloc at 8 a.m. Wednesday and is now locked up in jail.
