2 ‘agaw-armas’ nabbed in Bataan
TWO men on Tuesday who took the gun of a security guard and tried to rob a store in Bataan were arrested.
In a report to Bataan Police Director Col. Rommel Velasco, Mariveles Police Commander Lt. Col. Gerald Gamboa said his men and members of the Bagac Police arrested suspects Ronnie Soriano and Jerson Soriano, 21, both residents of Corpuz St., West Tapinac, Olongapo City.
Gamboa said the two suspects forcibly took the service gun of security guard Ramon H. Griarte, 58, of Kamagong St., Bgy. Balon Anito, Mariveles, and detailed at the Fiesta Community Homes in Mariveles.
Griarte told police the suspects pointed a gun at him and took the issued gun and his backpack containing his IDs (identification cards) and P800 cash.
Then the suspects sneaked inside the store of spouses Manuel and Justine Joy Pacayay and tried to rob them in Bgy. Biaan, Mariveles.
The store owner cried for help catching the attention of force multipliers patrolling the area, who grappled for the gun when it went off, hitting the two suspects.
The wounded suspects managed to flee using their getaway motorcycle. Police chased the suspects until the motorcycle crashed in Bgy. Saysayin, Bagac, resulting in their arrest.
Recovered from the suspects were a .22 rifles, one shotgun, a. 38 pistol with three fired bullets and one live bullet for .38 gun, a Honda motorcycle, and the backpack of security guard Griarte.
The injured suspects were brought to the Bagac Medicare Hospital but were later transferred to the Gordon Hospital in Olongapo City.
Police said the suspects were also responsible for another “agaw-armas” from a security guard in Orani.
The two suspects will be charged with robbery, attempted robbery, and violation of RA 10591 and the Comelec (Commission on Elections) gun ban.
