17 suspects rounded up in Ecija illegal bingo raid

QUEZON, Nueva Ecija – At least 17 personalities were nabbed during an anti-illegal gambling operation here on Tuesday.

Acting provincial police chief Col. Rhoderick B. Campo said tracker teams of the Quezon police, 2ndprovincial mobile force company and 303rd regional mobile force battalion 3 conducted the lightning raid in Bgy. San Andres 2 at 4 p.m. resulting in the arrest of the suspects.

The arrested suspects were identified as Melanie Hermoso, 45, Cedric Hermoso, 18, Melba Guinto, 41, Marilyn Dela Cruz, 53, Richel Dungca, 39, Maritess Vigilia, 48, Sabina Calantoc, 63, Rosemarie Ordonio, 42, Lerma Dela Cruz, 33, Evelyn Arucan, 62, Ria Pagba, 21, Crizelyn Alejandro, 25, Irene Nebres, 28, Estrelita Matias, 42, Kristine Kaye Matias, 27, and Melody Venzon, 30, all of Bgy. San Andres 2 here.

Campo said his men caught the suspects in the act of playing bingo.

Seized were a set of bingo cards and shaker, including bet money totaling P650.

Charges for violation of P.D. 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287 were filed against the suspects.
