PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Thursday officially administered the oath of office to 168 licensed professionals who have joined the PNP Officers’ Corp through its 2021 Lateral Entry program.

The top cop was joined by Department of the Interior and Local Government Undersecretary for Peace and Order Bernardo C. Florece Jr. during the occasion.

The newly inducted officers include four lawyers and two medical doctors who were appointed to the initial rank of Police Captain with a basic monthly salary of P56,582 plus allowances.

Also inducted were dentists, optometrist, psychologists, nurses, pharmacists, medical technologists, radiologic technologists, chemists, nutritionists, engineers, forensic criminologists, architects and IT officers.

They were appointed to the initial rank of Police Lieutenant with a basic monthly salary of P49,528.00 with allowances and other cash and non-cash benefits.

“Your achievement today defines your moral courage and strong determination to achieve your goal. From amongst hundreds applicants who tried to take their chance, PNP has chosen you as the best among the rest, because our community deserves nothing but the best police service from us,” Eleazar told the new officers.

The PNP chief told the newly inducted officers that their badges and ranks represent their sworn commitment and responsibility to serve and protect the public with utmost integrity, credibility and respect.

“Lagi ninyong isa puso at isa isip na ang ranggo meron kayo ngayon ay may kakabit na pananagutan sa mamamayang Pilipino na panatilihin ang kaayusan, itaguyod ang karapatang pantao at wakasan ang kriminalidad at mga pangaabuso sa bansa,” he added.

As new technical officers, the 168 will be assigned in selected police regional offices and national operational support units.

The 168 new police commissioned officers were formally turned over to PNP the Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development to undergo the mandatory Officers’ Basic Course and Field Training Program before reporting to their respective unit assignments.

The Lateral Entry Program for technical service officers is among the regular sources of Police Commissioned Officers in the PNP aside from the cadetship program in the PNP Academy.

Last October 4, Eleazar also inducted 117 technical service professionals into the PNP.
