14 NPA members yield to Calabarzon PNP officials

FOURTEEN members of the New People’s Army have and turned over their weapons to police authorities in Lian, Batangas following a series of negotiations with officials, Philippine National Police chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. said on Sunday.

The top cop commended the Police Regional Office 4-A headed by Brigadier Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. for initiating talks with the 14 which prompted them to yield and return to the mainstream of the society.

The 14 who were described as members of the Eduardo Dagli Command of the NPA under their Sub-Regional Military Area in Calabarzon region yielded to authorities in Barangay Matabungkay in Lian municipality.

They also turned over two caliber .38 revolvers with six live ammunition, two 40mm live ammunition, one M406 high explosive, three rifle grenades, one hand grenade and several subversive documents.

“The PNP is continuously extending the government’s arms of reconciliation and peace especially to those who wish to return to the fold of the law, cooperate Mobile Force Battalion undergoing a debriefing before their papers that will enable them to avail of government support will be forwarded to proper authorities.

“I commend all the units involved in this successful accomplishment headed by Brig. Gen. Nartatez, the RD, PRO4-A. Let us continue doing our best to ensure the maintenance of peace and order in our community, specially this coming holidays,” Gen Azurin said.
