14 most wanted men hauled to jail
FOURTEEN most wanted persons were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in a series of manhunt operations across the country over the weekend, PNP-CIDG director Maj. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro yesterday said.
In a report to PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, the PNP-CIDG director said that six of the suspects are wanted for non-bailable rape charges while the rest are wanted for murder, gunrunning and robbery-extortion.
“This is part of our ongoing effort to account for all most wanted criminals and help keep the streets safe as ordered by Gen. Eleazar,” Maj. Gen. Ferro told the Journal Group.
The arrested rape suspects were identified as Mark Angelo Berdan, Angelo Berdan, John Rey Viduya, Jerome Goco, Ramil Rodriguez and Edwin Marcelo.
Berdan was arrested in Basey, Samar while the other Berdan and Viduya were tracked down in Batangas City. The suspects are the subject of warrants for two counts of qualified rape issued by the court on April 24, 2015.
Another suspect identified as Raymond Gardose was arrested in Roxas City in Capiz for a murder case.
Ferro said that Mark Angelo Berdan is wanted for involvement in illegal recruitment and prostitution activities in Basey, Sta. Rita and Marabut municipalities in Samar.
Viduya and Gardose were described as the 9th most wanted person in Calabarzon region and the 8th most wanted in Tapaz, Panay.
Another suspect identified as Randy Bartolo,42, a man wanted for murder in Malaybalay City, was arrested in his hiding place in Kapitan Bayong, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.
Goco, 26, wanted for a rape case in Manila, was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court on January 4, 2018.
Rodriguez was arrested in his residence in Bgy. Maly in San Mateo, Rizal for rape while Vincent Aguilar, the subject of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by a Caloocan City court was caught in his hideout in Silanganan Subdivision in Bgy. 167.
Ferro said that another wanted murder suspect identified as Victoriano Mabinungcal Jr. was arrested in Bgy. Napnapan in Pantukan, Davao de Oro while Marcelo, another most wanted rape suspect, was tracked down in Cabarroguis, Quirino province.
