NAVOTAS has once again gained a new batch of skilled workers following the virtual graduation of 138 Navoteños from the Navotas Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute Thursday afternoon.

In NAVOTAAS Institute Annex 1, 46 completed the Japanese Language and Culture while 11 finished the Basic Korean Language and Culture.

There were also five graduates in Beauty Care national certification (NC) II; four, Hairdressing NC II; 10, Dressmaking NC II; seven, Tailoring NC II; and 12, Bread and Pastry Production NC II.

Meanwhile, in NAVOTAAS Institute Annex 2, 15 trainees completed and received NC II for Housekeeping, and 28 finished Basic Visual Graphics and Design.

Mayor Toby Tiangco congratulated the graduates and lauded them for using their time to train and gain new skills.

“I commend all our tech-voc graduates for choosing to be productive even while we are under community quarantine. Our current situation should not hinder us from learning new things and striving to improve ourselves,” Tiangco said, adding that graduates should visit the NavotaAs Hanapbuhay Center should they decide to look for employment or put up their own business.

Cong. John Rey Tiangco, on the other hand, said the city government established the training centers to give Navoteños an opportunity to acquire news skills that would help them earn their livelihood.

“Navotas is not rich in terms of funds and other resources. Our greatest asset is our people. That is why we invest heavily on projects and programs that would empower and enable Navoteños to create the life they dream for themselves and their loved ones,” he said.

Navotas has four training centers that are open to Navoteño and non-Navoteño trainees. Residents may study at the institute for free while non-residents may enroll and take assessment exams for a fee, depending on the course they will take.

Enrollment is ongoing for courses in Beauty Care NC II, Hairdressing NC II, Massage Therapy NC II, Food and Beverages Services NC II, Barista NC II, Cookery NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, and Food Processing NC II.

Also available are Tailoring NC II, Dressmaking NC II, Basic Visual Graphics and Design, Japanese Language and Culture, and Korean Language and Culture.

Last August, Navotas was recognized as one of the 2021 National Kabalikat Awardee of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for its commendable initiatives towards the promotion and advancement of Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
