124 inmates in Palawan jail test positive for Covid-19
THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology yesterday said that some 124 inmates at the Palawan jail in Puerto, Princesa City tested positive for the deadly coroavirus disease-19.
BJMP spokesperson Jail Chief Insp. Xavier Solda said 17 jail personnel also contracted the dreaded virus.
Solda said the Covid patients were brought to a separate building for isolation.
He said the patients are now given medical attention.
The official said visitation at the jail was temporarily suspended following the surge in Covid cases in the province.
Palawan was earlier placed under a state of calamity amid a rise in the number of people hit by Covid, the Provincial Public Information Office said.
According to the BJMP spokesperson, the family may communicate the inmates through the E-dalaw or electronic visitation.
