CABANATUAN CITY – The National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems (NIA-UPRIIS) office based here provided free diabetes tests to some 114 head office staff and officials in line with NIA Administrator Ricardo R. Visaya’s four-point agenda to promote the physical well-being of its workers, considered as the best assets of the agency.

NIA-UPRIIS Chief Engr. Rose B. Bote said the two-day activity took place at the Farmers’ Training Center from May 11 to May 12 and was held primarily for diabetes prevention and management.

Bote said she and Division Manager Milca B. Cayanga of the administrative and finance sector spearheaded the activity with two resident medical nurses, Maria Kristina Reyes and Russellenie Prieto, administering the random blood sugar and fasting blood sugar tests on the 114 office personnel.

The top UPRIIS official said her office is targeting to hold this type of activity monthly and other medical services such as the annual physical check-up of employees, which is due to start by the end of May. By Steve A. Gosuico
