11 rape suspects among 15 most wanted men captured by PNP-IG
FIFTEEN most wanted persons, 11 of them facing non-bailable rape cases, were arrested by Philippine National Police agents last week as a result of “intelligence packets” developed by the PNP Intelligence Group (PNP-IG), the Journal Group learned yesterday.
The capture of the 15 most wanted persons as a result of the information provided by the PNP-IG headed by Col. Frankie C. Candelario was commended by PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil who has ordered all police units to regularly account for all lawbreakers in the country.
The PNP-IG said that of the 15 arrested suspects, 12 were Regional Most Wanted Persons while the remaining three are Provincial Most Wanted Persons. The 15 were arrested as a result of manhunt operations conducted by PNP-IG Regional Intelligence Units (RIUs) and the local police.
The RIU 4-A of the PNP-IG was instrumental in the November 1 capture of Leandro Gomez, the subject of a warrant of arrest for 17 counts of rape issued by Judge Rose Marie Manalang-Austria of the Rosario, Batangas Regional Trial Court Branch 87 last October 21.
The suspect, who was listed as the 5th most wanted man in the entire Calabarzon region, was apprehended in San Juan, Batangas.
The RIU4-A also was behind the capture of Michael Pasaylo, 34, a wanted murder suspect in Sitio Yabaan, Bgy. Nasalan, Quezon, on the same day. Judge Francis Galvez of the Catanauan, Quezon RTC Branch 96 ordered the arrest of the suspect who was accused of killing a neighbor in November last year. The suspect was tagged as Region 4-A’s 6th most wanted person.
RIU4-A operatives were also behind the capture of Ben Nueva, 27, the 9th most wanted man in Region 4-A following a manhunt operation in Bgy. San Vicente 2 in Silang, Cavite.
The suspect is the subject of a warrant for two counts of rape and an attempted rape case issued by Judge Raquel Aspiras-Sanchez of the Tagaytay City Family Court Branch 3 on August 1, 2023.
At the same time, the RIU4-A were behind the arrest of Halim Gubat, 27, the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Mario Telan of the Antipolo City RTC Branch 132 last September 30. Tagged as the 2nd most wanted man in Region 4-A, the accused was charged for the killing of a man in Tautay, Rizal last February 5.
The RIU8 developed the “intelligence packets” that led to the capture of the following: Roberto Tumampo,46, the 8th most wanted person in Region 8 and the subject of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Mario Mercado of the Ormoc City RTC Branch 12 last October 14; and Angelo Carbo,22, the 9th most wanted person in the region who was ordered arrested for a rape case by Judge Luz Navarette of the Naval, Biliran RTC Branch 16 last October 17.
The RIU3 was behind the arrest of the following Regional MWPs: Jhon Michael Monserata, 33, the no. 1 most wanted man in Region 3 who is the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Felizardo Montero Jr. of the Malolos City RTC Branch 11 in Bulacan last August 8 until he was caught in Bgy. Pulong Yantok in Angat, Bulacan last November 4;
Jovy Manahan, 42, the subject of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Merideth Delos Santos-Malig of the Guagua, Pampanga RTC Branch 51 last October 2. The suspect was accused of killing a man in Floridablanca, Pampanga last July 22 and became the 3rd most wanted man in Central Luzon; and Gerald Gaupo,24, the subject of a warrant of arrest for 18 counts of rape issued by Judge Joefferson Toribio of the Tarlac City RTC Branch 11 last October 18, with no bail recommended.
Tagged as the 5th most wanted man in Region 3, the suspect was arrested in Bgy. San Pablo in Tarlac City.
The RIU6 meanwhile was instrumental in the November 4 arrest in Bgy. San Agustin in Iloilo City of Western Visayas region’s 9th most wanted person, Rolly Colorado, 41, the subject of a warrant of arrest for rape by carnal knowledge issued by Judge Globert Justalero of the Iloilo City RTC Branch 32 last October 18.
The RIU9 also provided the information which led to the capture of Fregie Gabrines, tagged as the 4th most wanted person in Western Mindanao last November 5 in Bgy. Linado in Dapitan City in Zamboanga del Norte.
The suspect is the subject of a warrant for four counts of statutory rape issued by Judge Nestor Angeles of the Dipolog City Family Court Branch 3 last October 31.
Meanwhile, the RIU11 led the arrest of Alex Cumahig, 50, the subject of a warrant of arrest for 4 counts of qualified statutory sexual assault issued by Judge Glenn Aquino of the Davao City RTC Branch 8 on June 22, 2023.
The suspect, who has been tagged as the 5th most wanted person in Region 11, was apprehended in his hiding place in Bgy. Mintal in Tugbok District in Davao City last Nov. 5.
Candelario said that his men also account for three Provincial Level Most Wanted Persons.
They include Rayan Antonio,39, the 5th most wanted man in Bohol who was arrested by RIU 7 and local police personnel on the basis of a warrant for rape issued by Judge Azucena Macalolot-Credo of the Talibon, Bohol RTC Branch 101 last October 30;
Sydin Rico,19, one of Camarines Sur’s most wanted persons who was arrested last November 3 in Bgy. Haluban in Lupi municipality on the basis of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Arniel Dating of the Libmanan, Camarines Sur RTC Branch 56;
Boner Samia, 50, was the subject of a warrant of arrest for lascivious conduct and four counts of violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act issued by Judge Joefferson Toribio of the Tarlac City Family Court Branch 11.
The suspect was tagged as the 2nd most wanted man in Tarlac.
