10 rebels yield in Davao de Oro

CAMP QUINTIN MERECIDO, Buhangin, Davao City – Ten members of the communist terrorist group (CTG) under Weakened Guerilla Front 2 (WGF 2) and Sub Mindanao Command (SRC) on Friday surrendered to authorities in Sitio Mission, Barangay Andap, New Bataan, Davao de Oro.

PRO11 (Police Regional Office 11) Director Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr. said personnel from the 1st Davao Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (DNPMFC), Provincial Intelligence Team (PIT) Davao Norte and Regional Intelligence Division 11, and Provincial Intelligence Board facilitated the surrender of rebels.

They were identified as alias “Junior”, of Platoon Baking WGF2; alias “Karding”; alias “Benjil/Kildo”; alias “Budi/Junior”; alias “Bebing”, squad medic of WGF2; alias “Rose”; alias “Flower”; alias “Georgis”; alias “Tatay Molong”, of Platoon ABE WGF2; and alias “Abloy”.

The operating team together with the Mawab Police and the 28th Infantry Brigade (IB), Philippine Army successfully recovered highly-powered firearms in Sitio San Vicente, Tuburan, Mawab, Davao Oro – five pieces of AK 47, one M14, two pieces M16, one M79, 490 bullets for 7.62, and 11 pieces steel magazines.

The surrender was the result of massive implementation of the PNP (Philippine National Police) and NTF-ELCAC (National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) campaign plan “Kapatagan”.

The surrenderees are now under the custody of 1st DNPMFC for debriefing and other procedures necessary for them to avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

Silo lauded his men for the recovery of the cache of firearms which contributed to PRO11’s intensified operation against loose firearms and strengthened its community relations and encouraged support from the public to end local communist armed conflict in the region.
